A man and a little girl are recovering after they were both shot, about six hours apart and just a half a block away from each other in East Germantown. Police are looking for the gunmen and a possible connection. The six year old girl was seriously injured when she was hit by a stray bullet while playing in front of her home about 7pm Tuesday. Chief Inspector Scott Small said the girl was shot in the chest, under her left arm, and was found unresponsive on the sidewalk next to the steps of her home.

A federal appeals court on Tuesday dealt another defeat to New Jersey's attempt to legalize sports betting, setting aside the state's legal challenge to a federal betting ban. The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals' ruling invalidated a law passed by New Jersey in 2014 that would have allowed sports betting at casinos and racetracks. The court found New Jersey's law violated the 1992 Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, which limits sports betting to the handful of states that offered it at the time. Currently, only Nevada offers betting on individual games. Delaware offers multigame parlay betting in which players must pick several games correctly to win. Hundreds of billions of dollars are bet illegally on sports annually. The four major professional sports leagues and the NCAA sued the state in 2012, claiming the expansion of legal sports betting would damage the integrity of their games and lead to more game-fixing.

Police are trying to locate a woman who was removed at gunpoint from a Pennsylvania hospital. Police say 21-year-old Alicia Buzzard was last seen at Philhaven Hospital in Lebanon County on Tuesday evening. They say 18-year-old Elliot Ravert entered the hospital armed with a handgun and left with Buzzard. It's not known if Buzzard willingly accompanied Ravert. Ravert is driving a green Chevrolet Avalanche with Pennsylvania license plate ZGY-3594.
