Two Philadelphia school security officers were attacked yesterday after trying to break up a fight between two men outside of a pizza shop at the corner of Cottman and Castor. The fight started out as a brawl between two North East High School students, the security officers tried to break it up, and then 2 unidentified men started beating up the officers. One of the officers suffered a broken jaw, and the other had serious bruising from being punched in the face. So far, no suspects have been identified.

Philly police responded to a shooting that happened in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. The shooting happened at the intersection of Frankford Avenue and Wakeling Avenue at around 9:45 pm. Officers arrived at the scene and found a man shot multiple times. He was rushed to the hospital, but his condition is still not known at this time.

A new development in the continuing tug of war battle between Verizon workers and union members has escalated over the weekend. After being on strike for three weeks now, the union workers have now lost their health insurance benefits. Nearly 40,000 employees who are on strike have now lost their benefits. Verizon said they have made their final offer, and that has been rejected. Verizon says that negotiations have been going on for the past 10 months, and they say there is no resolution in the near future.

The Phillies play tonight in St. Louis against the Cardinals.

Today, Rain continues, with a high of 57 in Center City.
