Another retired Philadelphia School District administrator has surrendered her academic credentials as part of the investigation into cheating on state standardized tests. Darlynn L. Gray, a former principal at Delaplaine McDaniel Elementary School in South Philly, turned in her professional certifications amid allegations she violated the integrity and security of the PSSA exams.

Humane-law officers rescued 15 cats and recovered a dead cat Thursday at a home in South Philadelphia. Responding to a tip, the officers executed a search warrant in the area of Fourth and Sigel Streets where they found the cats living in unsanitary conditions. The cats were surrendered by the owner and transported to SPCA headquarters for medical evaluation and adoption preparation. If you see animal abuse, call 866-601-SPCA.

Fortunato Perri Sr., the former Philadelphia Traffic Court judge who admitted to dimissing traffic tickets in exchange for bribes of shrimp, crab cakes and pornographic videos, was sentenced Friday to two years of federal probation. Citing the 78-year-old's advanced age, declining health and lack of criminal history, U.S. District Judge Robert F. Kelly described the punishment that kept Perri out of prison as appropriate. Perri has suffered two recent strokes, chronic Crohn's disease, near blindness and dementia.
