Philadelphia's skyline is about to have some company. Developer Carl Dranoff and an LA based company will be building a 47-story tall hotel and residential building at the corner of Broad and Spruce Streets. The location is the former home to Philadelphia International Records, which was founded by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. It will be called the SLS International Hotel and Residences. The building itself will have 150 hotel rooms, 125 condos and amenities including a restaurant, bar and spa. The new venture will honor and pay tribute to the land that it rests on, the birthplace of the “Sound of Philadelphia.”

Video has now been released in armed robbery attempt that left a 7-Eleven clerk shot. The incident happened around 4:15 am on Tuesday morning at the 7-Eleven on the 1800 block of Stenton Avenue in the West Oak Lane neighborhood. Two black males wearing masks entered the store with handguns raised and demanded money. The clerk and female companion did not give them any money. Eventually one suspect assaulted the female and the other shot the clerk in the leg. They then fled empty handed to a silver four door sedan that was waiting for them with two other men. 7-Eleven is putting up a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or people responsible.

The Mega Millions jackpot rose dramatically today and is at $636 million for tonight's drawing. That is the second highest lottery jackpot in history, behind a Mega Millions jackpot of $656 million in March 2012. Lottery officials say that it is not inconceivable that if it rolls over tonight and Friday, there could be a $1 billion jackpot drawing on Christmas Eve. Someone may win tonight, you have a 1 in 259 million chance! If you do your cash option will be $341 million.

Tonight
Cloudy, Temperatures around freezing this evening in center City.
