Philadelphia Infant Malnourishment, Delaware Heat Related Death, Absecon Hallucinating Man Arrested

Philadelphia police are investigating a possible case of neglect and malnourishment of an infant. A malnourished 1-year-old and a 3-year-old were removed from a home located in the 1500 block of York Street. The children were taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for evaluation Sunday. Authorities say the parents are being questioned by SVU.

Delaware officials are reporting their second heat related death of the year. The Friday death of an 87-year-old New Castle County woman has been ruled an accident with heat exposure as a factor Sunday evening. The woman’s death comes two days after the death of a 55-year-old New Castle County Man who was found unresponsive on Wednesday.

Officials say an Absecon, NJ man who called police Sunday morning is now in custody. The man called police because he feared there were several intruders in his home. The caller stated he had fired shots through the walls of his bedroom while trying to defend himself from the supposed intruders. He then jumped from a second story bathroom window and ran to a neighbor’s house for help. Police say the caller was taken to the hospital for a back injury sustained when jumping from his second-story window and charges against him are pending.
