Phila. Crime Surveillance Cameras, Buena Arrest Made, Biden Gun Control Talks at Girard College

Philadelphia City Council members will be looking at expanding its use of surveillance cameras to deter crime. Council members visited Baltimore last month to see how that city has ramped up its crime camera program. One reason Baltimore has more extensive surveillance is that the city has tapped into hundreds of private cameras at colleges, hospitals and businesses. Philadelphia has 200 surveillance cameras, while Baltimore has more than 600.

State police say they have made an arrest in connection with the remains of two bodies found in South Jersey. Authorities confirmed on Sunday that the remains were found Friday in the yard of a property in Buena Vista Township. Police did not release the name of the subject in custody or the names of the two victims, but more details were expected to be released during a press conference today.

Vice President Joe Biden will be in Philadelphia today, talking gun control at Girard College. He’ll be in a roundtable discussion with local police, state prosecutors and three members of Congress.
