Gunman Killed at NJ Police Station, Sandy Victims Waiting for Aid, Mummers Parade New Year's Day

A gunman was killed inside the Gloucester Township Police Station early this morning after shooting at least one police officer. In all, three officers were injured. The injuries to the police officers do not appear to be life threatening. One of the officers was sent to the hospital for surgery.

Hurricane Sandy victims are still waiting for relief from the government. Congress has still not passed the $60 billion in aid requested by President Obama. Unfortunately, the bigger priority is the looming "fiscal cliff" with lawmakers focusing on striking an agreement to avoid the plunge.

The Mummers are preparing to strut down Broad Street on New Year's Day. They are building sets and floats at the Convention Center, fluffing their feathers, finishing their sequins and tuning their banjos. The parade starts at 9:45 on New Year's Day at Broad Street and Washington Avenue. Ten Fancy Brigades will also perform two indoor shows at the Convention Center at Noon and 5 pm.

Sports
City 6 basketball games this weekend including St. Joe’s and Iona tonight at 7. You can hear that game right here on iRadioPhilly.

Weather
Clear skies today. 38 degrees in Center City.
