Old City Clothing Swap, Officer Fox Murder Weapon--Straw Purchase, Sandusky Pension Revoked

An Old City community center conducted a clothing swap for neighborhood residents on Wednesday. The Christ Church Neighborhood House on American Street conducted the event, hoping to give the community an opportunity to find items for the fall and winter. There was one and a half tables of clothing, a half-filled rack of coats and shirts, and a half table covered with shoes and other accessories available for the taking.

Michael Henry of Philadelphia is now facing nine felony charges for the illegal “straw” purchase of nine firearms between April and July. Prosecutors say Henry legally bought seven pistols and two rifles from stores in Montgomery and Chester counties, but then sold them to Andrew Thomas for $500 each. Thomas used a nine-millimeter Beretta pistol to kill Plymouth Township police officer Brad Fox last month before turning the gun on himself.

Pennsylvania’s public employee pension system said Wednesday it will revoke Jerry Sandusky’s $59,000 annual pension in the wake of his conviction and sentence in the child sexual abuse scandal.
The State Employees’ Retirement System notified Sandusky by letter that his crimes triggered forfeiture of his pension.. Sandusky’s lawyer contended the agency has no legal grounds for revoking the pension and said Sandusky will fight any attempt to do so.
