Penn State president Rodney Erickson is confident that the school will emerge stronger after the Jerry Sandusky trial. Jury selection begins next week. Despite all the distraction, Penn State has set a record for student applications and new research grant money.

Philadelphia City Council want more control over bicycle lanes in center city. The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia and the Nutter Administration are reluctantly agreeing for now. Councilman Bill Greenlee amended the measure to require an ordinance only if parking or travel lanes are affected.
